FANUC teaming up with Milliken to mold a needle cover with polypropylene clarified with Millad NX 8000 at K 2019 using a 150t machine with a 32-cavity needle cap mould.
On Booth C04 in Hall 14, GDK will exhibit its compact GM251.X-model extrusion blow molding (EBM) machine with hybrid drives. It will be equipped with three independent extruders with 25-mm-diameter screws. This will allow it to produce three different-colored, transparent PP bottles of slightly different shapes. GDK says it can configure this size of triple-head EBM machine to make up to 1,200 pieces per hour, each with a volume of 20-80 ml. GDK will be running an EBM-specific grade of random copolymer polypropylene made by MOL Group (Booth A79 in Hall 8B). Modified with Milliken’s Millad® NX® 8000E clarifier, the resulting material — TIPPLEN R 665 XClear PP resin — offers excellent optical properties in terms of transparency and gloss. It also yields a fresher look, a low yellowness index, and tunable aesthetics.
Milliken, the Chinese professional equipment supplier Yizumi and the China Huajin Petro Group will demonstrate the latest technologies in in-mold-labelling for food containers. Visit the Yizumi booth (Hall 13 / D 80) to see the production of an IML food container, enhanced with Milliken’s Hyperform HPN-715, using the latest machine technology. The Pac 200 presents one of the fastest applications in the field of thin-walled packaging with a cycle time of 2.5 sec including in mold labeling (IML) and part removal.
Ilsemann Automotion will be running its new injection molding machine to make thin wall injection molded containers using polypropylene nucleated with Hyperform HPN.
Hong Kong-based L.K. Machinery is teaming up with resin supplier INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe and Milliken to mold a geometrically complex fruit crate using polypropylene nucleated with Hyperform HPN using its new injection molding machine.
INEOS uses Milliken’s Hyperform HPN to produce its Rigidex P 450- HP60 antistatic, high-flow, high-impact PP copolymer that it has specifically designed for very fast-cycling, thin-walled injection molding applications. INEOS makes this series of resins using Innovene PP gas-phase technology, to deliver a balance between fluidity, rigidity and impact resistance.
LK will run the resin on its K stand (Hall 13/ C43) using its Forza-III press to produce the crate in cycle times under 20 seconds. The resulting product, made using a hot-runner mold, will contain 950 grams of PP.
In a partnership for performance and sustainability Milliken is collaborating with Oman’s Orpic and the Dutch machine company MEAF to produce more recyclable products. Orpic’s Luban HP1151K PP is a homopolymer polypropylene for high transparency thermoforming applications with enhanced optical appearance. The grade is nucleated with Hyperform HPN and also contains antistatic agent. It provides enhanced process ability with excellent isotropic shrinkage control. The Luban sheet rolls on display include 100% Orpic Luban HP1151K PP grade. MEAF’s 90 mm extruder with IV-Measurement and an IV-Increase system will also be on display at their stand (Hall 17 / A22) along with the polypropylene cups made with the Orpic grade.
Milliken is teaming up with polypropylene producer INEOS and Negri Bossi to demonstrate the performance benefits of polypropylene made with Milliken’s Hyperform HPN. Machine supplier Negri Bossi will showcase the production of a plastic crate at K 2019 (Hall 15, B22) using its new NOVA s600T with an innovative gesture navigation system incorporating swipe, scroll & zoom functions and 21.5” Color TFT LC multi-touch display with a 1920X1080 resolution. It’s a partnership enhancing the performance of plastics for a better future.
OMG srl is partnering with Milliken to showcase the benefits of thermoforming with polypropylene enhanced with Milliken’s Millad NX 8000 clarifier.
OMG will be producing date palm containers on its Machine PVE, part of its Elektra series. Featuring a four-station machine with a 200 mm stroke suitable for making deep-draw parts, OMG will run PP sheet extruded by Germany’s Mezger Verpackungen GmbH & Co. KG.
The resin supplier is France’s Polychim Industrie SAS. For this project, it is providing Mezger with its HA31XTF homopolymer grade, which offers very good antistatic properties and has a high crystallization temperature allowing for cost-efficient production, and yields balanced physical properties.
The resulting NX UltraClear PP sheet — which can only be produced using Millad NX 8000 clarifier — is lightweight and highly recyclable with a transparency and clarity normally associated with PET.
Milliken Chemical is partnering with leading Hungarian resin producer MOL Group to demonstrate the benefits of extrusion blow molding (EBM) cosmetic bottles using polypropylene (PP) enhanced with Milliken’s Millad® NX® 8000E clarifier. Plastiblow is exhibiting two electrically operated extrusion blow molding machines that have a low environmental impact and meet Industry 4.0 standards. The field bus architecture of the machines, with deterministic access for the connection of the various electronic components to distributed intelligence, such as I/O modules, drives and security systems, allows a digital transmission of signals with maximum reliability and speed, precise synchronization of the servo-driven movements and accurate diagnostics and supervision of the system in real time.
PureCycle Technologies has partnered with Milliken to advance closed-loop recycling of PP resin. By employing a patented recycling method that restores virgin-like quality to waste PP resin, packaging can go from NX UltraClear PP to NX UltraClear PP. This will enable the recycled material to become truly circular and be reused in its original application, as opposed to having to be downcycled into lower-value products.

One important partnership is with the MOL Group whose TATREN RM 45 55 CLEAR polypropylene (PP) is a reactor random copolymer of excellent processing stability and high fluidity. Clarified with Milliken’s Millad NX 8000 it has a crystal-clear quality and offers greater sustainability as it can be processed at significantly lower temperatures, as well as giving the potential for cycle time reduction. Being a reactor grade it has excellent organoleptic properties, making it suitable for demanding food contact applications. Visit Windsor Hanau’s booth (hall 12, stand B11) for an injection molding demonstration of vividly colored lunchboxes, tinted with Milliken’s ClearTint colorants for PP. Windsor Hanau represents the servo-hydraulic toggle injection moulding machine range of the Taiwanese FCS Group in Europe and the FCS FA-160, with 1600 kN clamping force, will be on display.
On its K 2019 booth (Hall 3/A16), WM plans to run the Flex 92 Machine with a tool made by Germany’s Marbach Group that features in-mold cutting technology, marking it the first time WM will show this special equipment on a thermoforming machine. Italy’s MP3 Srl extruded the sheet, which can only be made by using Millad® NX® 8000 clarifier. NX UltraClear PP sheet offers transparency and strength, while also helping converters to boost their sustainability.
